This is what Jesus said to Peter about love devotion to God, in John 21.

15 So when they had a finished breakfast, Jesus *said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He *said to him, “Tend c My lambs.”†‡ 16 He *said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He *said to him, “ a Shepherd My sheep.” 17 He *said to him the third time , “Simon, son of John, do you 1 love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him a the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus *said to him, “ c Tend My sheep. †
18 “Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger , you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go.”† 19 Now this He said, a signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He *said to him, “ Follow Me!”

Lord, thank you, that you remind us of the right path. As my father, used to always say from Proverbs, Trust in the Lord, with all your heart, Lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make you path straight. Thank you Dad, for your example, and thank you Lord for the conscience you gave us all, and for your Holy Spirit that convicts us to do what’s right.

Not only is this promise, for eternity, but it is for today. Jesus, didn’t give his life, so that we can sit around and wait, for the perfect life in Heaven. He gave it so we might live now, in light of this promise, with a hope that shines a light on the Good News, that the King has come, and goes to prepare a place for us. We can live now, in freedom, from the bondage from sin, and live for him! If you are hurting today, I pray, that Jesus would show you comfort, in the midst of your trial. May you feel the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Amen.

God’s Words, will last, for all of Eternity. This world, is passing away. We must put our hope, in something that will last forever. That hope is in God, through Jesus work on the cross, and his resurrection.

1 Peter 1:23-24

23 for you have been a born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

24 For, “ ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF,

25 a BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER.” And this is the word which was preached to you.

Taken from Isaiah 40: 6-8.

Isaiah elaborated on how transitory humanity is: here today, gone tomorrow. People pass away like plants under the hot breath of the withering E wind. James used this illustration to teach the folly of trusting in material wealth ( Jas 1: 10 , 11 ). Peter used it to illustrate the passing nature of everything related to humanity ( 1Pe 1: 24 , 25 ).
