When we pray, what is our motive? Is it all about satisfying our own pleasure, or about bringing glory to God, in what we are asking? We need to check our motives when we pray, because God is all about the motives of our heart, and knows our every thought! Think about using the Lord’s prayer, not to say, but as an example. It always starts the same, recognizing who God is, and giving him praise.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Prayer……This places no limits on a believer’s prayers , as long as they are according to God’s will and purpose (see note on Mt 17: 20 ). This therefore means that man’s faith and prayer are not inconsistent with God’s sovereignty. And it is not the believer’s responsibility to figure out how that can be true, but simply to be faithful and obedient to the clear teaching on prayer, as Jesus gives it in this passage. God’s will is being unfolded through all of redemptive history, by means of the prayers of His people— as His saving purpose is coming to pass through the faith of those who hear the gospel and repent. Cf. Jas 5: 16 . Taken from comments in John MacArthur Study Bible.

Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

Consider this……Paul, was writing this to Timothy, who was being pressed on all sides and wavering. Even though, just associating with Paul, might bring him death, for naming the name of Jesus, Paul write these word’s of exhortation. What fears are you facing today? Consider Paul’s word’s and meditate on them in faith, that God will bring you through it. Praying for you today that you will be strengthened.

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

To those who are at the top of the mountain. BEWARE! It is God who has brought you to this place, and God who will knock you down, if you don’t give him your praise and service. Thank you Lord, for this reminder, of how easily, our wicked hearts can deceive us, if we are not filled with your word, and your spirit.

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.

How cool is it to think, that we will spend all eternity with God, who’s love will last forever.

The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.

Jesus set the example for us, and called us friends. He laid down his life for us. Is there those, who we would do the same? Think about who they are and tell them. Also, tell them, it’s not because we are so great, but because Jesus did the same for us! God is always the hero.

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

This was a response from God, for being outwardly religious, but inwardly wicked. All our hearts are inherently wicked, but Jesus sent his spirit, and his word, to help us change our hearts. If our hearts are changed, then our actions will overflow with pure motives. This would be a great life verse, don’t you think? God Bless, Alan

Lord, may our WALK, match our TALK, today, as we serve you, and those around us. Hope you all have a blessed day.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
