Actions speak louder than words. Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only who delude themselves.
The door, represents the church at Laodicea. Christ was seeking to enter this church that bore His name but lacked a single true believer. This directed letter was His knocking. If one member would recognize his spiritual bankruptcy and respond in saving faith, He would enter the church.

Repent. This is no mere academic change of mind, nor mere regret or remorse. John the Baptist spoke of repentance as a radical turning from sin that inevitably became manifest in the fruit of righteousness (v. 8 ). Jesus’ first sermon began with the same imperative ( 4:17 ). For a discussion of the nature of repentance, see notes on 2Co 7:8–11
Repentance itself is not a work, but works are its inevitable fruit. Repentance and faith are inextricably linked in Scripture. Repentance means turning from one’s sin, and faith is turning to God (cf. 1Th. 1:9 ). They are like opposite sides of the same coin. That is why both are linked to conversion ( Mk 1:15 ; Ac 3:19 ; 20:21 ). Note that the works John demanded to see were “fruit” of repentance. But repentance itself is no more a “work” than faith is ( see note on 2Ti 2:25
Happy New Year, brothers and sisters. Out with the old, in with the new. Can’t wait to see what the Lord will do in each of our lives and look forward to hearing about it, from each of you.
Gods words will not change. This earth will pass away, but his promise is imminent. He will come, even though we don’t know when. We are to be ready, not spending our time unwisely on unimportant things. What are those things? We must decide, based on his word, not our own selfish hearts desire. Holy Spirit, convict us of the things are unimportant to you, and help us change, so we will embrace you, with open arms, with no regrets, both now and on your return.

Christ’s emphasis instead is on faithfulness, watchfulness, stewardship, expectancy, and preparedness. These are the lessons He taught in the parables that immediately follow.
Just as Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, by twisting the word of God, so shall he try to do to us, who follow Jesus. We must speak Gods truth to each other, and not worldly wisdom, which will lead us down a path of destruction. What will you choose, Life or Death? Choose Life! This world is not our eternal home.
Use my mouth for good and not evil!

Oh, how I am convicted as the holidays approach, with this sound principle from James. I woke up this morning oppressed by a spirit of torment over a conflict from Mothers Day. May my tongue be used for good and not evil, as these days of interaction between family and those we struggle with. Fill me with you Spirit, Lord.
