I don’t think “ Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz” (it’s a song, for you younger people, look it up), is what the verse on the image, is talking about! On the other hand, “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” , 1 Thess 5:18, is one of many Bible verses that is clearly God’s will for us. We need to be continually in God’s word, that we may clearly know his plan and will for us, along with communicating and listening to him, regularly. This verse introduces the general character of a believer’s prayer life: 1) “all prayer and petition” focuses on the variety; 2) “at all times” focuses on the frequency (cf. Ro 12:12 ; Php 4:6 ; 1Th 5:17 ); 3) “in the Spirit” focuses on submission, as we line up with the will of God (cf. Ro 8:26 , 27 ); 4) “be on the alert” focuses on the manner (cf. Mt 26:41 ; Mk 13:33 ); 5) “all perseverance” focuses on the persistence (cf. Lk 11:9 ; 18:7 , 8 ); and 6) “all the saints” focuses on the objects (cf. 1Sa 12:23 ).

Great and Marvelous are your works, Oh Lord! You hold the key to breath and life, both now and for all of eternity. Help me to follow in your righteous ways. I am incapable of this, without your sovereign hand upon me, and my family. Protect us from the evil that is in this world. Amen
