The Lord tells the Israelites under Joshua’s leadership, Do NOT Fear, for I go to prepare the way before you to fight the battle. Are trusting him today, to continue to fight our battles? Are we praying for victory in his name, and how he wants that to look like? Are trusting him and believing him completely? These are the questions I need to be asking him daily, that he might give me wisdom, to fight the battle on his term, not my own. Forgive me Lord, when I fail to do that.

We are to be ready, not spending our time unwisely on unimportant things. What are those things? We must decide, based on his word, not our own selfish hearts desire. Holy Spirit, convict us of the things are unimportant to you, and help us change, so we will embrace you, with open arms, with no regrets, both now and on your return.

With this statement, Jesus moved Martha from an abstract belief in the resurrection that will take place “on the last day” (cf. 5:28 , 29 ) to a personalized trust in Him who alone can raise the dead. No resurrection or eternal life exists outside of the Son of God. Time (“on the last day”) is no barrier to the One who has the power of resurrection and life ( 1:4 ) for He can give life at any time.
