Golden Rule

Note from Study Bible

Versions of the “Golden Rule” existed before Christ, in the rabbinic writings and even in Hinduism and Buddhism. All of them cast the rule as a negative command, such as Rabbi Hillel’s version, “What is hateful to yourself do not to someone else.” Jesus made it a positive command, enriching its meaning and underscoring that this one imperative aptly summarizes the whole gist of the ethical principles contained in the Law and the Prophets.

Our prayers are not for us to be seen, but for us and our hearts to be seen by God. It is not for us to receive Glory, but for him to receive Glory and Honor and Praise, and to petition him for his will ours needs? It’s not about us, but about him.

loses his life … will save it. This paradoxical saying reveals an important spiritual truth: those who pursue a life of ease, comfort, and acceptance by the world will not find eternal life. On the other hand, those who give up their lives for the sake of Christ and the gospel will find it. Cf. Jn 12:25.

May the Lord grant us this wish, that we may serve him boldly, in all we do and say. May it be him who is lifted up, and not us as we go about his business. We……are the servants of the most high? Let us be glad and rejoice, for THIS IS THE DAY, THAT THE LORD HATH MADE (My uncle Jim’s favorite verse)

In my own strength, I would not have the capacity to love, but Paul says, in Philippians, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. –Lord, through your strength, help me to love others who are unlovable, just as I was to you.–

But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE.

A direct command from God through Joshua. Now that you know where it’s coming from, what are you going to do? Should we fear God or this world? The battle rages on, but the victory is won! Jesus has claimed the victory.

No matter what you may going THROUGH (Remember, it is temporary, not permanent), May Jesus walk you through it with all joy and peace, filled with his Spirit, which he has given to all freely, who receive it!

It is through Jesus, that we have received everything we need for life in him. As undeserving as we are, Jesus took it upon himself, to bear our transgression, so we might be set free, from the bondage of sin. Can I please get an Amen!
