This speaks of mourning over sin, the godly sorrow that produces repentance leading to salvation without regret ( 2Co 7:10 ). The “comfort” is the comfort of forgiveness and salvation (cf. Is 40:1 , 2 ).

We are free from the curse of the law forever, to those who receive freely, the gift of grace by faith alone. Our works to earn salvation, will only bring stress & worry, because only Jesus was able to fulfill the law and set us FREE! Won’t you turn to him today? He is waiting.

This passage ends with the word Selah. I always just passed this by, in the past. The idea, is NOT to just keep on, in this case singing, but to pause, and contemplate. OUR GOD THRU JESUS, HAS DELIVERED US FROM THE BONDAGE OF SIN. NOT THRU ANYTHING WE CAN DO, BU THROUGH THE WORK OF JESUS. WE ARE FREE, INDEED. MAY WE LIVE AS THOUGH WE BELIEVE THIS PROMISE.

In the book of Joshua, he says Do Not Fear. I go before you in the battle. I will give you the Victory. He has declared victory in Jesus, through his perfect life, his death and resurrection. The victory has been won, over sin and death. We are are victorious through Jesus, both now and for all eternity, to those who believe. Do you believe? Lets shout it from the rooftops. Good news, indeed.

The Apostle Paul has been talking to the church in this passage. What a great example to the world, as the church lives with these key points in Thessolonians that Paul is laying out through the Holy Spirit and guidance.
