speculations. Thoughts, ideas, reasonings, philosophies, and false religions are the ideological forts in which men barricade themselves against God and the gospel (cf. 1Co 3:20). every thought captive. momentary, light affliction. The Gr. word for “light” means “a weightless trifle” and “affliction” refers to intense pressure. From a human perspective, Paul’s own testimony lists a seemingly unbearable litany of sufferings and persecutions he endured throughout his life ( 11:23–33 ), yet he viewed them as weightless and lasting for only a brief moment. eternal weight of glory. The Gr. word for “weight” refers to a heavy mass. For Paul, the future glory he would experience with the Lord far outweighed any suffering he experienced in this world (cf. Ro 8:17 , 18 ; 1Pe 1:6 , 7 ). Paul understood that the greater the suffering, the greater would be his eternal glory (cf. 1Pe 4:13 ).

Jesus Temptation in the Wilderness by Satan

It is written. All 3 of Jesus’ replies to the Devil were taken from Deuteronomy. This one, from Dt 8:3 , states that God allowed Israel to hunger, so that He might feed them with manna and teach them to trust Him to provide for them. So the verse is directly applicable to Jesus’ circumstances and a fitting reply to Satan’s temptation. EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD . A more important source of sustenance than food, it nurtures our spiritual needs in a way that benefits us eternally, rather than merely providing temporal relief from physical hunger.

Draw near to God, and he will show you the right path, to help you overcome temptation. Everyone is tempted by someone or something. Even Jesus was tempted, but he was without sin.

Let us all Remember, that this life, and our Faith, is not a game. We cant just dress up our lives to look good, but really not have pure motives. God sees everything, and knows our hearts. Not that we won’t make mistakes, but that we do walk in faith. It is Jesus who makes us right before a Holy God, and the Holy Spirit, who strengthens us to persevere, and be faithful. One day we will be made perfect, but until then, may we be filled with the spirit, humbled by the gift of salvation, through Faith, and walk with confidence that God loves us. May we show that same love to others today and every day.

Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.

All we need, both physically and spiritually, can be found in Jesus. This quote was taken from Deuteronomy 8:3, and was used when Jesus was speaking to Satan while being tempted.

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘ man shall not live on bread alone , but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God .'”

Temptation or Trial…….It may depend on whether you choose God, or your own selfish desires. What do you think?

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

God hates the proud heart, so we are to walk in humility. We do this, by be filled with his spirit, knowing God’s Word, and trusting in his sovereignty, that his plan is best, even when we don’t understand it. When the time is right, our God will lift us up. This whole chapter is a great one to study, as well as James 1 (my favorite), to better understand, going through trials. Jesus, may we walk in humility today, and every day. Your will and timing is perfect, and we submit to you. Amen.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,
