Prayer for the Destruction of the Treacherous. See the whole chapter below, to see the context of this verse.

1aGive ear to my prayer, O God;† And bdo not hide Yourself from my supplication. 2Give aheed to me and answer me; I am restless in my bcomplaint and c1am surely distracted, 3Because of the voice of the enemy,† Because of the apressure of the wicked; For they bbring down 1trouble upon me And in anger they cbear a grudge against me. 4My aheart is in anguish within me, And the terrors of bdeath have fallen upon me. 5Fear and atrembling come upon me, And b1horror has overwhelmed me. 6I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!† I would fly away and a1be at rest. 7“Behold, I would wander far away, I would alodge in the wilderness. 1Selah. 8“I would hasten to my place of refuge From the astormy wind and tempest.” 91Confuse, O Lord, adivide their tongues,† For I have seen bviolence and strife in the city. 10Day and night they go around her upon her walls, And iniquity and mischief are in her midst. 11aDestruction is in her midst; bOppression and deceit do not depart from her 1streets. 12For it is anot an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who bhas exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him. 13But it is you, a man 1my equal, My acompanion and my b2familiar friend; 14We who had sweet 1fellowship together aWalked in the house of God in the throng. 15Let 1death come adeceitfully upon them;† Let them bgo down alive to 2Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst. 16As for me, I shall acall upon God, And the LORD will save me. 17aEvening and bmorning and at cnoon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice. 18He will aredeem my soul in peace 1from the battle which is against me, For they are bmany who strive with me. 19God will ahear and 1answer them—† Even the one bwho 2sits enthroned from of old— Selah. With whom there 3is no change, And who cdo not fear God. 20He has put forth his hands against athose who were at peace with him;† He has b1violated his covenant. 21His 1speech was asmoother than butter,† But his heart was war; His words were asofter than oil, Yet they were drawn bswords. 22aCast 1your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you;† bHe will never allow the righteous to c2be shaken. 23But You, O God, will bring them down to the a1pit of destruction;† bMen of bloodshed and deceit will cnot live out half their days. But I will dtrust in You.

The Gospel of Jesus, is needed by us as a constant reminder, that we have been rescued from darkness, to eternal life. How others know the truth, if we are not being filled with his good news daily? I’m not saying that we ignore the other disciplines of our faith, but in the many sports I was involved with, in my youth, we must never forget the fundamental truth of our Faith. (Though, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us).

TAKEN FROM MY MORNING DEVOTION

There is no greater need in your Christian life than regularly reminding your own heart of the truth of the Gospel. How can we share this with others, if we can’t be filled with his Spirit and Trust of this message, daily or regularly, that every day is a blessing to us and to others.

Father, what are we pursuing in our life, that needs to change? Give us wisdom to recognize those things, and set them aside, that we might keep our eyes on the prize.

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also alay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us brun with cendurance the race that is set before us,† 21fixing our eyes on Jesus, the a2author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him bendured the cross, cdespising the shame, and has dsat down at the right hand of the throne of God.† 3For aconsider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary b1and lose heart.† Hebrews 12:1-3

God is Faithful……

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.” ‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

God is a keeper of his promises

The Lord is FAITHFUL. God is faithful in regard to creation (Ps 119:90), His promises (Dt 7:9; 2Co 1:18; Heb 10:23), salvation (1Th 5:24), temptation (1Co 10:13), suffering (1Pe 4:19), and here faithful to strengthen and protect from Satan (cf. Jn 17:15; Eph 6:16; 1Th 3:5).

Spent my morning listening to a fantastic sermon on Matthew 26 along with reference to Exodus 12. A beautiful picture of God fulfilling his promises to All people, of rescue and deliverance from bondage of sin and slavery. This picture reminds me every time I see one of theses sunrises, that Jesus is our Hope.
