Paul’s main point in this series of rhetorical questions is that a clear presentation of the gospel message must precede true saving faith. True faith always has content—the revealed Word of God. Salvation comes to those who hear and believe the facts of the gospel.

The good news is not only a gracious offer but a command to believe and repent ( 1:4–6 ; 2:8 ; 6:17 ; Ac 6:7 ; 2Th 1:7 , 8 ; Heb 5:9 ).

This verse relates to church discipline/training, but the principle is sound, for us as believers. It does not take a formal process, to train, correct, encourage or reprove one another.
