This is a veiled prediction of Jesus’ death on the cross. Jesus referred to the story of Nu 21:5–9 where the Israelite people who looked at the serpent lifted up by Moses were healed. The point of this illustration or analogy is in the “lifted up.” Just as Moses lifted up the snake on the pole so that all who looked upon it might live physically, those who look to Christ, who was “lifted up” on the cross, will live spiritually and eternally.
You gave your life, so that we may live. May we shout it so all may hear, that there is hope, for those who believe in faith. There is no condemnation, for those who are in Christ Jesus. Not because we deserve it, but because of what he has done.

Jesus declared very clearly. He was the only way, to God the Father, and that was through him. He was the son, fully God, fully man, and he was the fulfillment of the promise God made, to send one who would rescue us from our sinful, rebellious ways. He took on the punishment, for all, that thy might, believe. He rose from death, to declare victory, and we can truly say, “Our Redeemer Lives”! Thy Kingdom COME, Thy WILL be DONE. The Expectations were wrong and the cost was great! Remembering, the price that was paid was great, for our freedom, from the chains of our sin and death. His Grace was sufficient. Looking forward to the day when he will return truly, to set up his eternal kingdom here on Earth and in heaven. Until then, we wait and watch, and tell of his great mercies and the judgement that will come to all who will not turn to him, but seek their own way.
