It is the gift of life for those who believe, but for those who don’t, it is foolishness, but also carry’s the weight of eternal judgement. God does not any to perish, but to receive the free gift of life. This does not mean, that there was not a tremendous price to pay, for our wayward hearts!

A Christmas Discussion – Luke 1:26-55

For those that couldn’t make it, we had a brief time of singing some Christmas Carols and then talking through Luke 1:26-55.  What a beautiful story of God’s messenger (Gabriel) telling Mary of not only her part she would play, but more importantly the coming birth of the one who would change the world.  What an amazing story of faith on Mary’s part, and Love on God’s part coming together.

I didn’t have time to throw out some of these things to think about so I thought I would throw out a few practical thoughts to ponder as you think about this passage.

In the sixth month – God’s clock was already ticking when the angel came to Mary. Just because God announces something to me doesn’t mean it began with me.

Pledged to be married – We have our plans. God has his. What do you do when the two come into contact with each other? This is a practical question for today, just as much as it was for Mary 2000 years ago.

Mary was greatly troubled at his word – Mary isn’t the only person who ever found herself troubled by God’s message.

You will be with child – Sometimes we enlist in the purposes of God, sometimes we are drafted. Does God, have the right to draft us into his service?

How will this be? – There is a world of difference between asking God “How” and asking him “Why” Do you know the difference?

For nothing is impossible with God – You heard him

I am the Lord’s servant – Even though Mary was drafted, she responds with a willing heart. The secret of a willing heart flows from our identity as servants of God.

“But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬ ‭ May we not lose sight of the tremendous sacrifice, that was made on our behalf, to those who believe. We can celebrate on Easter, but as we remember what Jesus went through, May we few our devotion to him, for much was sacrificed by both the Father & the Son.

Our Hope is in you Lord, for the security in knowing, that even though we live in a world that is passing away, you have a place ready for us that will NEVER fade away.

Lisa Chan sang on one of her albums, “How deep the Fathers Love for us”. The verse below says it all. May your Easter be filled with amazement at what Jesus and the Father had sacrificed that we might Live!

He would suffer many things for our sake. He did for us, what we could never do for our selves.

Our Hope is both in this present age, in an imperfect world, but one day, for all of eternity, spending with Jesus in our perfect world, for all of eternity.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:11

It is not in our own strength that we fight the battle, but in Gods Holy Armor, which he gives freely, to all believers. If we try and fight in our own strength and might, we lose. I pray that we are reminded daily, that there is a spiritual battle raging, and we remember to fight filled with his spirit and his might

If you have been rescued from the miry pit of destruction, as you cried out to God, let us hear from you. I can still remember in my days by myself in California, as a 20 year old, my cry and my desperation, and anger, as I cried to him. Interestingly, HE waited patiently waited for me, in my rebelliousness to find my own way, because I thought he had lost my way, but it turns out, I had lost his way. How about you, how did you find him.
