Earlier in the chapter, Peter says this. “If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”

but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

We MUST find a way, to do this verse. It is a command, not a suggestion (see comments below)

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

I remember this song as a kid in Sunday School. It goes, “be careful little eyes what you see , careful little ears what you hear” (partial). Point is, we can be doing the reverse, watching the news, hearing all the negative info, tragedies, scandals, etc. We must find a way to see the things commsneed in the verse above. I have provided some comments that were helpful, from the John Macarthur Study Bible, which I highly recommend. I am hoping this will be a reminder for us all.

May your day be filled with these things!

4: 8 true. What is true is found in God ( 2Ti 2: 25 ), in Christ ( Eph 4: 20 , 21 ), in the Holy Spirit ( Jn 16: 13 ), and in God’s Word ( Jn 17: 17 ). honorable. The Gr . term means “worthy of respect.” Believers are to meditate on whatever is worthy of awe and adoration, i.e., the sacred as opposed to the profane. right. The believer is to think in harmony with God’s divine standard of holiness. pure. That which is morally clean and undefiled. lovely. The Gr. term means “pleasing” or “amiable.” By implication, believers are to focus on whatever is kind or gracious. of good repute. That which is highly regarded or thought well of. It refers to what is generally considered reputable in the world , such as kindness, courtesy, and respect for others.

Just as God chose Jesus, he chose us before the foundations of the earth. May we follow Jesus lead, and may the Father be well pleased in our service, and our proclaiming the Good News to both Jew and Gentile.

” behold , my servant whom I have chosen ; my beloved in whom my soul is well – pleased ; I will put my spirit upon Him , and he shall proclaim justice to the gentiles .

We Are Not Ashamed………. For I am not a ashamed of the gospel , for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. May the grant us all strength, to stand firm in our faith, through his Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ” but the righteous man shall live by faith .”

God gives perseverance and encouragement to us, so that we may do the same, with others.

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus,

Each one of us is unique. Mold us into the man or woman, that you want us to be. Let us embrace our unique differences, as a gift from you, that as brothers and sisters in Christ, we may display to the people around us, the love and unity we have through the work, you are doing in us. God Bless us in our walk today. May you be lifted up. May we become less, that you may become more.

But now, O Lord , You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.

Our bodies, given as a living sacrifice. In verse 2, it says, that we might be transformed. Just as Christ poured out his life for us, we are to give up our lives to him. It is a process, but the word transformed is from the word, metamorphosis. Think of the caterpillar transformed into the beautiful butterfly. Only God can do this in our lives, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Some believers process is faster or slower than others, but in the end, we will be transformed. Thank you, Jesus.

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Pray for those who persecute you……Read the verses before and after 27 & 28. Tell me what it means for you. It’s really at the heart of who Jesus is.

Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.

We need to always remember, God Loved us, in spite of our faults. Shouldn’t we do the same to others, and share the Good News, that Jesus makes us whole and right before God, not because of what we’ve done, but because of what he had done. Taken our penalty, even though he did not deserve it. What true love!

Trials will come, but the reward is great. We may waiver, but don’t lose heart. We have a great advocate in Jesus. He will walk through it all with us. Take courage today, if you are struggling. God Bless.

Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
