Pray for those who persecute you……Read the verses before and after 27 & 28. Tell me what it means for you. It’s really at the heart of who Jesus is.

Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.

  1. I am not the be all end all of Bible verse translations, and always ask people to pray and God will reveal what any verse is meant to be for them. Having said that I’d love to answer your question. Before to me means if we have “mans” praise and admiration, that is not true. It’s earthly, and will change like the attitudes of men do. The one after is a little more tricky, because it is harder to do. If someone strikes us to let them do it again. I take this could mean literal, as physical, or verbal, and if they steal, to give them more. I read a story in a book from Phil Roberson who said after he would catch food from the waters, and leave it on the dock people would come and steal it, or try. He said for years, he’d run out chase them, yell at them. How dare them. Then one day he said, he waited for them and just gave them the food.. Told them to come on up and his wife would cook it for them too. He said funny thing was they were shocked by this, even acted afraid to take the fish. But miraculously, no one ever stole his fish again, and no matter how much he gave away there was always more than he ever caught when he was trying to keep them from stealing it. Sorry for the long reply but that is what this verse reminds me of 🙂 and means. Love no matter what and in doing so, God will change people for the better.
